Transmon helps spot the invisible man
Leicester, United KingdomTransmon Engineering's new pedestrian alert system uses RFID technology to help reduce accidents involving unseen pedestrians and forklifts.
The system can be fitted to almost any forklift and detects a pedestrian's presence via an RFID active tag that is worn by workers onsite at all times. The tags pulse a signal several times a second, activating the system when it enters the proximity detecting field (about 7 m/23 ft. from a forklift). A beacon, buzzer or LED alerts the driver and pedestrian that they are close.
According to Transmon, industry figures suggest that more than 40 people are injured weekly by forklifts.
