William Ng
Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) - Singapore
Experienced sales executive William Ng is the new Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) member engagement manager for Southeast Asia.
Ng spent 10 years as a sales executive with Rigging and Marine Services in Singapore, mainly dealing with load test and rigging jobs with Singapore Shipyards.
He also worked for Survitec in Singapore as sales manager, dealing with distributors across Southeast Asia region, and also handling new build projects for fire systems.
Ng’s role at LEEA is to audit and engage with members in Southeast Asia as well as China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
“The lifting sector in Southeast Asia is spread across the offshore, marine and construction sectors, with the new energy industry becoming increasingly important,” says Ng.
“Among the issues that some of the countries are facing is the variability of local legislation when it comes to providing clear guidelines, resulting in users or inspectors often having to follow international standards.
“My aim is to bring LEEA standards to the oil and gas operator, shipyards, accredited training centres and government agencies.
“My biggest challenge will be bringing LEEA standards to the construction industry, as most of them are involved in local business and are not required to deal with international standards.”
