JCB helps engineer WW1 tank centenary tribute
Rocester, United Kingdom

JCB helped TV personality Guy Martin to engineer a tribute to the role tanks played in helping change the course of the First World War. The story of the tank's role and its modern-day recreation will be told in a Channel Four documentary 'Guy Martin's WW1 Tank' on Sunday, November 19 at 8pm.
The truck mechanic and TV presenter came up with the idea of producing a replica of a 30 T Mark IV tank to mark the centenary of a battle in which they were first deployed.
And he turned to JCB's engineers and welders to help turn his dream into reality in time for the special anniversary.
They rose to the challenge in double-quick time, with the profile parts cut, rolled and bent into shape at JCB Heavy Products in Uttoxeter before being welded together at JCB's World HQ in Rocester.
The huge team effort ensured the tank was operational and on display in Cambrai, Northern France on Armistice Day, Saturday, November 11th. The two-hour Channel Four program, which follows the entire rebuilding process, also looks at the impact made by tanks during World War One.

KION supports relief efforts
Summerville, SC, United States

KION North America Corporation employees have donated $2,500 to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The company matched the donation by 100%, with a second donation in the same amount to the American Red Cross in support of the Hurricane Maria relief efforts.
"Being based in the South Carolina Lowcountry, we have experienced our fair share of run-ins with weather events, including hurricanes and flooding," says Vincent Halma, president and CEO of KION North America. "Though in recent history we have not experienced devastation of the magnitude created by these two particular storms, we can certainly empathise with those who have been affected."

Yale MX series honoured
Greenville, NC, United States

Plant Engineering has named the Yale GP040-060MX as a finalist for its annual Product of the Year awards in the materials handling systems category.
Yale claims that in head-to-head testing against its top competitor, the MX demonstrated significant advantages, moving up to 2.9% more loads, using up to 14.4% less fuel and providing up to 20.4% more power on some of the toughest grades.
"As corporate initiatives look to squeeze greater efficiency from increasingly lean supply chain operations, they require reliable, powerful, cost-effective materials handling equipment tailored to their application," says Chris Murtha, brand manager, Yale Materials Handling Corporation. "Plant Engineering clearly recognises this and the value of the MX Series."
