Explosion-proof pallet truck wins award

Ningbo Ruyi Joint Stock Co Ltd's explosion-proof pallet truck has won third prize at the Zhejiang Industry Science and Technology Awards.
According to Ruyi, the awards were held to promote scientific and technological progress in the machinery industry, motivate industry members and honour companies that made outstanding contributions.
The awards were organised by the Zhejiang Mechanical Industry Federation and the Zhejiang Industry Science and Technology Awards' review committee.

Toyota opens Vietnam plant

Toyota Industries Corp (TICO) held an opening ceremony last Monday for its new Vietnamese parts plant. The plant has been producing motors for electric forklifts since April for export to assembly plants in Japan, China, Italy and the USA, Kyodo News reports.
The report says TICO established a subsidiary in Hanoi, Vietnam in April 2011. It holds a 90% stake in the company, with the rest held by Sumitomo Corp.
With almost 100 employees, the plant aims to produce 50,000 forklift parts annually by 2014.

Terex Cranes announces winner

Terex Cranes has announced Lee Rucker as the first winner of its Terex Continuing Education Scholarship.
The USD3,000 scholarship was sponsored by the Specialised Carriers & Rigging Association's Foundation. Rucker is the son of SC&R Foundation member James Rucker.
Following the donation of USD21,000 in June 2011, the Terex Continuing Education Scholarship is a new corporate-named education program that is an extension to the SC&R Foundation's existing scholarship program. Initiated in 1986, the Foundation has already offered nearly USD300,000 in grants and scholarships.

Tata Steel wins award

Tata Steel has received a Supplier Performance Award 2012 at JCB's Supplier Conference in Rochester, UK, which was attended by over 240 of JCB's key suppliers.
Of the nine shortlisted companies, Tata Steel was one of three to receive the accolade.
Tata Steel's global account manager, Koen ten Broek, says the award is a "fantastic recognition of all the hard work that Tata Steel and JCB continue to invest in establishing a strong partnership together".
The Supplier Performance Awards assess five key areas of business, including quality, cost, innovation, delivery and management.

Forklift finals and training at CR Vanguard

CR Vanguard's Southern China team has been crowned champion of the CR Vanguard-Linde Cup National Logistics Skill Competition.
The national finals held last month at the CR Vanguard Shenzhen Pinghu Distribution Centre were the culmination of several rounds of competition that focused on the participants' forklift operating abilities.
During the competition, Linde (China) also organised a forklift operation and service training session for CR Vanguard's logistics staff to enhance their forklift maintenance and operating skills.

Forklift service opens in central Florida

As a recently formed entity, Forklift Repair of Central Florida LLC provides onsite forklift services in the city of Kissimmee and the adjacent greater Orlando metropolitan area.
"We just started two months ago," says Julio Roldan, who is listed as the business's registered agent on a 13 March filing with the division of corporations of the Florida department of state.
Kissimmee issued a license to Forklift Repair on 16 April for a virtual office at the Park Hill Place business centre in the city. Roldan says he uses the centre's address without charge.
Roldan says he has about 25 years' experience as an independent specialist dealing with repairs of forklifts including work on gasoline and diesel engines.
