Lonking offered equipment for use in relief efforts after the Ludian earthquake.

Chinese forklift manufacturers Ningbo Ruyi Joint Stock Co Ltd and Lonking have contributed to relief efforts in Ludian County after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the county in Yunnan province on 3 August.

Ruyi has donated CNY500,000 (USD81,205) to the relief work while Lonking has offered the use of its construction equipment.

Ruyi chairman Chu Jiwang says: "Enterprise's wealth is from the society, so we should give back to the society, (hence we) continue to contribute to the charities."

After the earthquake, Lonking board chairman Li San Yim instructed that the company's machines surrounding the earthquake-stricken area be used to assist the local government.

Lonking excavators and wheel loaders were used to build roads leading to the earthquake's epicentre in the town of Longtoushan in aid of local relief groups.

Lonking says in a statement it will continue to pay close attention to the earthquake zone and assist victims.

The earthquake has killed over 600 people and displaced over 30,000. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred 29 km (19 mi.) southwest of Zhaotong city at 4:03 pm Beijing time.
