Hyundai launches new LPG forklift

Hyundai's 5 tonne LPG forklift, the 50L-7A model, will make its European debut at IMHX 2010.
The first forklift in the new 7A series, which will include three, four and 4.5 tonne capacity forklifts, has a newly configured engine to conform to Tier 4 emission standards, changes in the driveline and a new front axle arrangement. The transmission has also been mounted independently of the front axle, with an intermediate drive-shaft. This is to eliminate driveline vibrations for a smoother operation. Operator Presence Sensing System is a new innovation for Hyundai that neutralises hydraulic and drive functions when the forklift senses that the operator is not properly seated.
Marketing manager Michel de Weert says the manufacturer has invested millions in new research and production facilities in Ulsan, South Korea as it continues to target global market share growth in the constructing, mining and industrial sectors.
Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe will also exhibit an updated range of its forklifts at the expo held in NEC, Birmingham in November.

Toyota showcases concept tow tractor

Toyota Material Handling USA Inc (TMHU) is showcasing its battery forward concept tow tractor at the International Airport Expo held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas this week.
Martin Boyd says the prototype exhibits "future design enhancements that increase operator efficiency while improving performance and overall environmental excellence". The battery forward design shortens the distance between the operator and the load, and is claimed to result in enhanced cargo visibility and clear 360-degree sightlines.
The concept tow tractor has components from Toyota's forklift and tow tractor line including the same 80-volt AC electric drive train found in Toyota's current electric tow tractor line. The tow tractor is ideal for towing baggage carts and cargo dollies. The prototype was built in Japan by Toyota Industries Corporation.

Crown previews new products at conference

Visitors to this week's 2010 International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) conference in Florida will get a sneak peek of three new products from Crown Equipment Corp.
The company is showcasing the Crown RM6000 reach truck, the QuickPick Remote Advance System and the next generation of Infolink 3.0 fleet management system.
Crown claims its new reach truck will reach 505 inches (12.8 metres) and lift loads up to 1,000lbs (454kg) more than a conventional reach truck. The QuickPick system is a wireless glove which enables drivers to remotely control the forklift, while the new fleet management system focuses on operator productivity and asset utilisation
