Genma-Kalmar is unifying its brandChinese materials handling equipment manufacturer Rainbowco will “fully unify” Genma-Kalmar, a joint brand with Finland’s Kalmar, under the Genma banner from September 1.
Genma-Kalmar specialises in rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), rail-mounted girders (RMGs) and ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.
The rebrand follows Rainbowco’s acquisition of Kalmar's heavy crane business in 2022, creating Genma-Kalmar, which has delivered 40 RTGs for Damietta Alliance Container Terminals (DCT) in Egypt and 50 RTGs for Moroccan port Marsa Maroc.
Rainbowco had acquired bulk materials handling equipment manufacturer Koch in 2019.
“This strategic consolidation [of the Genma-Kalmar brand] aims to create a clearer global brand identity for Genma and enhance synergies with the Koch brand,” the company states.
Rainbowco, founded in 2003 and now operating five production sites and employing 3,600 people globally, has its international sales centre in Shanghai. It is owned by parent company Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries (RHI).
