Nissan Forklift gets award
Birmingham, United KingdomNissan Forklift has been named UK Forklift Manufacturer 2012 by the Institute of Transport Management (ITM) of Birmingham for its outstanding contribution to the materials handling sector.
Nissan started producing forklifts in 1957, building on the expertise it gained from producing general automobiles. It now has a worldwide presence with factories in Spain, Sweden, Japan and the US, and sales networks spanning over 75 countries.
FEM issues new guidance
Brussels, BelgiumThe European Federation of Materials Handling (FEM)'s "intralogistic systems" and "racking and shelving" product groups have issued guidance to end-users, system designers, contractors and sub-contractors for warehousing systems.
The Industry Code of Practice "FEM 9.841 / 10.2.10 - Storage systems with rail dependent storage and retrieval equipment, Interfaces", serves as a reference for issues related to complex automated storage and retrieval systems in warehouses.
It also specifies the position, obligations and responsibilities of the parties involved.
NMHG donates to Food Bank
Greenville, NC, United StatesNACCO Materials Handling Group has donated an electric pallet jack to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina at Greenville.
The pallet jack will be used to distribute over 7 million pounds (3.2 kg) of food annually to agencies like local rescue missions, food pantries, soup kitchens and after-school and senior programs in 10 eastern North Carolina counties.
Brigade gains quiet mark
South Darenth, United KingdomBrigade Electronics has been awarded the Quiet Mark for its white sound reversing alarms, which sound in the immediate danger area and are not as noisy as old-style beeping alarms.
Quiet Mark is an international mark of approval from the UK charity-led initiative Noise Abatement Society that encourages companies to develop noise reduction in the design of everyday appliances. To gain the accreditation, products are compared like for like, and judged by the UK-based Association of Noise Consultants.
Linde CR sells Ausa
Prague, Czech RepublicLinde Material Handling Czech Republic is now selling the Spanish Ausa rough-terrain forklifts.
Rough-terrain forklifts are used at construction sites, in heavy industry plants and in agriculture.

Steel King recognises Wisconsin Lift Truck
Stevens Point, WI, United StatesWisconsin Lift Truck Corp of Brookfield, Wisconsin again received kudos from materials handling products manufacturer Steel King Industries Inc.
"Steel King Industries' most valuable dealer award was developed to recognise that a dealer's value to Steel King goes far beyond sales volume," says Jay Anderson, president of Stevens Point-based Steel King. "The team at Wisconsin Lift Truck used over 23 different Steel King product types to help their customers improve materials handling efficiency."
Wisconsin Lift Truck has been a consistent top-10 dealer for Steel King for nearly 20 years, and its 2011 sales growth for Steel King products exceeded 20%, according to Anderson.
"Steel King is the backbone of our storage and handling business," says Jerry Weidmann, Wisconsin Lift Truck president.
