Belgian producer of real-time location services (RTLS) solutions for warehouse collision avoidance, Essensium, has been named as the recipient of the 2024 Logistica Award at a gala event in the Netherlands.
Essensium received the accolade for its SafeTrack system which has been designed to increase safety in warehouses and logistics by reducing the incidence of pedestrians and forklifts colliding.
The SafeTrack system for pedestrians uses AI-enabled object recognition and informs drivers where pedestrians are on site. In the case where a pedestrian is within a set distance of a forklift, an alarm will sound inside the vehicle.
The system can be coupled with a traffic light.
The SafeTrack system for vehicles uses the Essensium Positioning System “for a combination of vehicle position detection and inter-vehicle ranging to provide a multi-layer approach to collision avoidance with built-in redundancy,” the company states.
Entry to the awards was open to exhibitors and their clients attending the Logistica Next exhibition in the Netherlands, as well as research and educational institutions.
Essensium faced strong competition from the other two finalists - Prime Vision for its AMRS solution for ASRS and Still Internal Transport for its self-driving vehicle.
Logistica Next states the accolade, awarded every two years, honours “the most innovative solution in logistics”.
