I recently joined Briggs having been an ex Barloworld employee also.
I will be totally honest with you and say please beware before joining this organisation, if you are expecting a high level of professionalism, good moral values and standards, a quality level of service to the customer, and faith and belief in the companies vision, then possibly think again.
This is a personal belief and may not be shared by everyone.
I have found working for the company a massive eye opener in a number of ways, but I won't go into detail, suffice to say that when it came to me matching my standards and expectations with theirs I found a definite disparity.
I would say talk to as many people as you can, keep your options open, there are some decent companies out there and they all operate in their own style, it's a question of what suits you.

Don't think they work like that in the UK. They pay a percentage on top of your salary into a pension fund(not sure how that works with you being from overseas). And yes salary in GBP. If traffic is clear usually take just over an hour but unlikely as you have to go through one of busiest road networks in the UK at Birmingham. I 'd think 1.5 hrs at best
I'm 3 to 4 hrs away to the north don't know any other engineers that far down.

ESOP is employee stock ownership plan. What that means that every year you work there they give you company stock at the end based on earnings. after 3 years with the company you are considered fully vested which means you can have access to the stock if you retire or something. is it that far from where I'll be to Cannock? google earth said about an hour but I am sure you know better. I am assuming the pay rate is in british pounds. Maybe we can figure a way to get together when I am there or you have others who may bewilling to chat

Not sure what you mean by esop, not a term I've heard in the UK.
Probably expect to earn around 22-24k dependant on experience + allowances for lunch,van cleaning etc.(van + Uniform supplied) I'm ex-barlow myself and led to believe pay will be reviewed when aligning terms and conditions with Briggs.
If the depot you are visiting is the head office @cannock I'd give yourself 1.5 - 2 hours.
Unfortunately I'm a few hours from their or would have met for a beer, by march we'd be more settled in and could tell you more.
Maybe someone else on here maybe nearer and take you up on that offer.

Right now I am a field technician. I assume I would be in the same role. I started with the Raymond guys, worked at a warehouse for 5 years and now work for Hyster. I was here when we were Barlow. I am an electrical specialist but I can also do IC trucks. I have had my hands in just about every brand of lift truck imaginable. Available in the US anyway. I will be in England in March and if we make the move, we would probably live in Tarrington. My fiance's parents own a house there. This is all theory right now but we ARE exploring options. When we come to the UK in March we will be in Herefordshire Nr Ledbury. I am still considering going to the branch office about an hour from where we are going to be. I have a few questions, Is Briggs ESOP in the UK? IS the pay good I mean is it a living wage? What salaries can I expect to be earning.

The take over for us only really came into effect on the 2nd of January.
Early days yet. Some teething problems but they are too be expected when combining two large companies.
Hopefully things will smooth out and we will be the biggest and best dealer in the UK.
