The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) of Charlotte, North Carolina rolls out Modex 2012 from 6-9 February at the Georgia World Congress Centre in Atlanta.

The event showcases equipment and systems solutions, along with learning opportunities spanning the entire supply chain from materials handling and logistics across manufacturing and assembly to distribution.

MHIA selected Atlanta for Modex to take advantage of what the international trade association sees as an emerging gateway to American supply chains. MHIA says more than 40% of manufacturing and distribution operations in the US are located within 500 mi. (800 km) of Atlanta, making the south-east region of the US one of the strongest industrial markets in the Americas.

MHIA projects more than 500 exhibits, three keynotes, 75 educational show floor seminars and 32 collocated education partner events during Modex 2012.

MHIA represents the materials handling and logistics industry. Members include materials handling and logistics equipment and systems manufacturers, integrators, consultants, publishers and third-party logistics providers.

The Rental Show

Meanwhile, the American Rental Association (ARA) of Moline, Illinois holds its 56th annual convention and rental trade show from 5-8 February in the Ernest N Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Known as The Rental Show, the show is the US rental industry's premier event and was ranked number 78 on the Trade Show Executive Gold 100 on the basis of exhibit space for the 2010 show.

The Rental Show in 2011 drew 610 exhibitors, including more than 100 companies with floor space for the first time. Further, the 2011 attendance increased nearly 40% over the 2010 show with the number of rental business increasing almost 30%.

New Orleans has been the host city seven times for The Rental Show. Previous ARA conventions in New Orleans occurred in 1967, 1974, 1987, 1992, 1997 and 2002.

The event will include 30 seminars and educational sessions along with indoor/outdoor product demonstrations. Among the speakers, Dan Kaplan will offer perspectives about the rental equipment industry, and Steve Abercrombie will conduct a session on financial planning for rental store owners.

As an international trade association, the ARA represents owners of equipment rental businesses and manufacturers and suppliers of construction/industrial, general tool and party/event rental equipment. ARA members include more than 7,500 rental businesses and nearly 900 manufacturers and suppliers in the US, Canada and more than 30 other countries.
