Kalmar to deliver straddle carriers to Forth Ports in GrangemouthFinnish materials handling equipment manufacturer Kalmar reports Q3 2025 orders valued EUR375 million (USD434.7 million), a 10% decrease quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q), with orders for the nine months ending September 30 reported as dropping 20%.
Sales for Q3 increased 3% to total EUR436 million (USD5.05 million) while sales for the January-September period were down 2% at EUR1.25 billion (USD1.45 billion).
President and CEO Sami Niiranen says: “Despite persistent global market uncertainty, indecisiveness and delayed decision making among some customers, we ensured a solid performance”.
“The market activity in the quarter was in line with our previous expectations of a slightly softer environment in the second half, especially in the Americas,” Niiranen adds.
“Orders received decreased to EUR375 million (USD 435 million), reflecting the current environment and differences between the regions and end customer segments.
“While Services order intake was strong across the service portfolio, the Equipment order intake was impacted by both delayed decision making and timing of larger orders.”
Niiranen expains that while underlying demand was mostly stable, it was subdued in the Americas, which is consistent with the previous quarter.
“Trade tensions and tariffs continue to create uncertainty, leading to varied regional development as also the data from our connected equipment of our customers' fleets show,” he continues. “However, based on external indicators, the market seems to be more resilient than previously anticipated. In addition, our solid order book provides a strong foundation moving forward.”
Meanwhile, Kalmar reports it has received a repeat order for three hybrid straddle carriers from UK’s Forth Ports Group to be deployed at its Grangemouth site in Scotland.
Kalmar says the order was secured in Q4 2025 and delivery is expected in Q2 2026.
Forth Ports Group previously ordered six Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers ordered by the group in Q1 2025, all of which have been deployed at the London Container Terminal.
