Toyota presents forklift case study
Kenilworth, United KingdomToyota Material Handling UK (TMHUK) operations director Tony Wallis presented at the 2012 Best Factory Conference in Kenilworth last month.
Wallis used a real-life case study from TMHUK to illustrate the use of Toyota's production system and the importance of taking care of "people, products and processes" to achieve success.
The case study showed a two-year redevelopment of Toyota's fleet management centre which repairs and refurbishes used forklifts.
WWL aims to reduce emissions by 30%
Oslo, NorwayWallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL), a global shipping and logistics company, says it is on track to reduce its relative greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2015, compared to 2005.
In 2011, the company's CO2 emissions in grams per tonne kilometer were reduced by 4% compared to the previous year. WWL attributed the change to improved fleet utilisation, better energy efficiency and new vessels in its fleet.
The figures above are part of the company's 2011 Environmental Sustainability Report.
Sales team goes high tech

More than 15,000 documents are at the team's disposal through a new system for tablet computers. At the touch of an icon, the team can now access information about every single new and old Terex crane model. The system automatically ensures the information is updated.
Supply chain exposition draws technology providers

Seegrid of Pittsburgh focuses on robotic industrial trucks. Kiva of North Reading, Massachusetts utilises autonomous mobile robots. Intelligrated of Mason, Ohio provides automated materials handling systems. Dematic North America of Grand Rapids, Michigan deals with logistics solutions. And Intermec of Everett, Washington supplies rugged mobile computing and data collection systems.
