Apprentices added to fin of car
Basingstoke, United KingdomLinde Material Handling has launched an annual award to celebrate the success of its apprenticeship scheme.
The Apprentice of the Year Awards will recognise apprentices' hard work and progress. The winner will have his or her name printed on the SCC Bloodhound, a car designed to reach 1,000 mph (1,609 km/h) and back to rest again in 120 seconds. The Bloodhound SSC project represents an extreme sporting challenge - the development of a supersonic car, built in the UK by a team of Formula 1 and aerospace experts. Linde Material Handling supports Bloodhound with forklifts through Linde Forklift Truck Hire.
Linde MH has 43 apprentices in the UK.
Toyota extends lift for veterans
Columbus, IN, United StatesToyota Material Handling USA Inc is extending the company's Giving Veterans a Lift dealership technician career and operator safety training program through to 31 December.
Toyota created the program to help veterans find employment and equip them with job skills to support a career in the materials handling field. The program also assists Toyota dealers recruit qualified service technicians.
Toyota Industrial Equipment dealers have helped nearly 300 veterans obtain forklift training through the program.
Clark honours dealers
Lexington, KY, United StatesClark Material Handling Company has bestowed the Dealer of the Year 2014 award to Equipment Depot of Houston, Texas.
Clark selects the winner yearly from a North American network of 85 dealers and 200-plus dealership locations, to recognise the dealership's excellence in equipment sales, parts and service, customer satisfaction and overall dealer operations.
Clark also awarded dealerships with 2014 Dealer of Excellence, Dealer of Distinction and Dealer of Merit awards. The Dealers of Excellence are the top performing Clark dealers and represent the top 10% of the dealer group. The Dealers of Distinction are in the top 15% of the dealer group while Dealers of Merit are in the top 25% of the group.
TVH Parts a known consignor
Waregem, BelgiumTVH has received the 'known consignor' status after an external audit by the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA).
This means TVH will not be charged extra screening costs or incur any delays for the approximately 1 million kg (2.2 million lb.) of cargo the company ships via passenger planes yearly.
In Belgium, about 10,000 companies qualify for the status.
WWL earns recognition
Woodcliff Lake, NJ, United StatesWallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has earned recognition as a partner-level supplier for 2013 in the John Deere Achieving Excellence Program. The partner-level status is Deere & Company's highest supplier rating.
The Norway-based firm was selected "in recognition of its dedication to provide products and service of outstanding quality as well as its commitment to continuous improvement".
Employees accepted the honour last week in Davenport, Iowa.
WWL is a supplier of ocean transportation and logistics services to John Deere's operations globally.
