Komatsu FG15T-20:
Only max.1300 rpm

Hello All, We're having a problem with an FG15T-20 sn; 668985 with a Nissan K21 motor. The problem is that the motor can't run to it's max. rpm. Now we found that there was an water leak on the motor we repaired it but as I understand corectly the system needs to be reset. I've heard that resetting can be done by disconnecting the battery plus and minus cables and hold them together for a few seconds. Can someone of you confirm me that this is a way too reset the system (any help would be great). I know that there's a handset avaible but it's very expensive and we have only one of these model in use.
Kind regards
Marc b

FF81....

this dosent work on the Nissan engines as the codes are alphabetic as well as numeric example E38 AND F75...the das display WILL show what code is active and the pedal dance will clear them

when you do the pedal dance, do not do the last step. the MIL light will flash the codes. it will be 4 digit codes. the first digit will flash slowly and the next 3 will flash faster. there will be a short delay between codes. if there is only 1 code, it will repeat. you can hold the pedal for 10 seconds at any time to clear the codes once the MIL light starts to blink.

Hi swoop, thanks for the reply. Our technician didn't see any other number on the hour meter than the working hours, if you could find the error list that would come on handy the next time we're having some problems.

hi marc,
well on most systems i've seen like this the hour meter serves 2 purposes, 1- the hour meter display of course but it also should show the error codes if its setup to do so, if it does not then there should be a light on the dash that comes on when a code is set. Some have both.

As for a manual? no i dont have one handy but i can look around and see if i can find an error code sheet.

hey swoop, we did the pedal dance and it works (it goos back to max. rpm). The only question I have is, is the hourmeter also used for diplaying the errors? because on the one we have it's just displaying the working hours, or do we need a handset for it. Do you have by any change a manual of it or a errorlist? Many thanks allready for your responce and advice.
Kind regards

yep do da dance (less time consuming)

but of course if you disconnect the battery for 30 mins (without holding the terminals together) just disconnect it, this should allow the system to discharge and reset the memory. (this doesnt work every time though)

can use the Accelerator pedal with the following and do "the pedal dance" to clear codes and resewont work tho if the accelerator pedal sensor is bad also if the code is still active and the problem hasnt been repair code will come right back

"the pedal Dance"

Turn the ignition switch on with accel. pedal released, after 3 seconds fully depress the accel pedal 5 times within 5 seconds(end in released position). After 7 seconds(timing is very important...1 mississippi 2 mississippi etc....) press and hold down accel pedal for approximately 10 seconds(again timing) until the hour meter starts blinking, release pedal and push down and hold again for 10 seconds) hour meter should be on with no codes showing, shut key off and test to see if codes cleared
