Hostile in Oregon?

Try hostile in here!! :-)

People like what they like. I have no problem with techs feeling that the product they pimp is the best.
what do you think I do.

If you like Toyota trannys, go ahead pick a $20,000 rebuild job against a $5,000 rebuild.
You like Lindes? Go ahead and prefer a truck that will eat $10,000 worth of brakes in a matter of seconds.
Pick a linde hydrostatic that'll lurch forward when you're inching and pull a lever.
Pick a linde that you can't tow without spending 10min's adjusting valving, and pumping up the brakes.

Pick a toyota with $5,000 worth of stability components over a nice simple piece of rubber that is designed to push the steer axle out as the unit leans.

Wether or not you want to admit it, the Fortis series are good trucks. The rest of the industry is playing catchup for now.

BTW, saying that Hyster took the operator side control idea from Yale is a huge load of you know what. When I worked for the Yale dealer many years ago, we'd lose sales to Hyster because they had side levers....

seat side hydraulics are different from mini levers 68stang.....

I think Hyster got seat side from Yale
mini levers idea from Linde
bad try at a hydrostatic tranny from Linde

NACCHo tried to make a hydrostatic tranny feel with clutch packs....and 21 qts of oil and a can bus system and combi cooler and sensors out the wazoo....

If that is what Hyale wants to do, fine by me.

just don't tell me they were original ideas......

Lucky, Looks like mike n did a great job of answering your question. You should have been given that same answer from your local dealer. If you have a service manual you should be able to diagnosis any problem from the dash with no problems. I am sure the dealer would be glad to send someone out to go over the machine with your mechanic. The software you are talking about is to let the dealer add options to the machines if wanted. Lucky have you run into any concerns your mechanic has not been able to work on yet?

EasyM, I believe Hyster has used seat side Hydraulics since 1999. The Fortis transmission was developed by Hyster. No copy.

Thanks Mike, You have been more help than the local dealer. I will let you know if I have any more resistance. As you can tell by the postings, it is a pretty hostile enviroment out here in Oregon

"ok bubba make your point"
99.99999% of the adjustments and troubleshooting can be done right through the dash.

All you need is the password.

The factory default is 55555, but it should not get to a customer that way.
Once it's out of warranty, the dealer can't have any problem with giving you the code to the unit you own, if they do, post it here and I'll get nacco to kick some butt.

We (sHyster dealers) are not allowed to sell the software or the adapter.
Sorry, but that's how it is.

But you don't really need it.
The codes can be looked up, just ask...

Hey 68Stang, I have 3 of the Fortis 6500 lb pneumatic forklift in my fleet. I have a mechanic that works for me on a full time basis.
I am looking for the software that goes with these trucks. I have contacted the dealer that I purchased these from and was told that only dealers have this and is not available to customers That means that my guy can not work on these units and have to call the dealer to send someone out. It is the only fork lift that I have ever owned that he is not able to work on.

Can you help?

Wow! Karl f. Some real strong words! You say you heard the Fortis is lucky to stay running? You heard that or you know it? Massive Electrical and Transmission problems? Dumping loads? Wasted their Money? I know some manufactures that are running the Fortis and have not experienced any of what you are talking about. They say it is the best $ they have ever spent on a forklift. I would like to talk to some of the people you say wasted their money! I was just on the Toyota web site taking a look at Toyota's new 8 series. Looks to me that Toyota LIKED THE FORTIS. Copied the rear drive handle with horn, Drop down LPG tank and seat side Hydraulics. Looks like reverse engineering to me. I did hear Toyota held up their release of the 8 series to see What Hyster was up to with the new Fortis. Hyster must feel good that Toyota would copy them!

Yah, the fortis line is proving to be very strong.

We had a prototype S80FT BCS come through for demos, and WOW what a unit.
It has a multi-port LPG injected 4.3, and runs like a dream.

AND

Disc brakes!!
They'll have to change the linkage, because the brake is a little too touchy IMO

We've had to pull 1 duramatch tranny so far, but it was only for a case seam leak.

The operators love them big time, so Hyster has a deffinate winner.

That's kind of what I've heard. I'm not handling lift trucks any more but am still around them at work. The Fortis, from what I've heard is a fantastic machine with little maintenance cost involved. Plus, the Hyster dealer network (based on personal experience) is outstanding compared to anyone else

WE HAVE HAD FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE OF THE FORTIS TRUCKS IN OUR RENTAL FLEET. YES I AGREE THAT THE SPREADING OF FEAR, UNCERTAINTY AND DOUBT ON THESE FORUMS IS A LITTLE MUCH TO TAKE. TIME IS PROVING THE FORTIS TRUCK TO BE A WINNER.

I did not know that my last posting would bring a personal attack
from someone I have never met.
I apologize if I offended anyone.

Gordo, funny thing you are not the 1st person who has had this problem.

Nacco wants dealers to use "special" website to fix truck issues, no more direct contact with service engineers.....

Wow!
things sure have changed.
