Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA) will build an energy research and development centre in Henrietta, New York.
At the advanced energy storage solutions development, prototyping and test centre, TMHNA will collaborate with Rochester area energy storage resources to support its advanced energy solutions technology efforts, including lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells.
Work on the USD2 million centre is expected to begin immediately and TMHNA says the centre will create up to 40 new jobs.
Empire State Development is providing up to USD1.5 million through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit program, while County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency and Greater Rochester Enterprise also provided support for the venture.
”This initiative signifies our commitment to excellence and underscores our dedication to environmental stewardship,” says TMHNA president and chief executive officer Brett Wood.
TMHNA is comprised of two main companies, Toyota Material Handling and The Raymond Corporation.
