Sany launches 50T electric reachstacker

Beijing, China

Chinese equipment manufacturer, Sany Group, has released its fully electric SRSC5035E, 50T reachstacker which has been purpose-built for the containerised energy storage sector.

The release follows the March launch of its 65T fuel-powered version.

Sany says the SRSC5035E can stack up to six containers high and is designed to handle ISO-standard 20ft. (6.1m) and 40ft. (12.2m) energy storage containers.

It is equipped with a 512kWh swappable battery, with ultra-low energy consumption of 1.8kWh per container and energy regeneration of 0.4kWh recovered per descent.

Brazil’s privately-owned container terminal, Portonave, has taken delivery of what it says is Brazil’s first electric forklift.

The brand of reachstacker, which has the capacity to stack six 45T containers and can operate for eight hours, was not named.

Portonave says the reachstacker is “completely free of greenhouse gas emissions, [and] marks another step in the terminal's decarbonisation journey”.

Portonave says the acquisition of the reachstacker is part of its BRL439 million (USD80.8 million) investment in innovation and environmentally-friendly equipment.

In April, Portonave announced it has ordered 14 electric rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes for its Brazilian terminal.

Mobicon Systems has issued a teaser about the release of its new Mobicon 3-High which can stack three containers high.

Mobicon says the 3-High is a “direct response to customer demand for greater stacking capacity” and, it says, is proof that bigger doesn’t have to mean bulkier.

“Unlike heavy, traditional equipment, the Mobicon’s light-weight design reduces infrastructure wear and increases flexibility — a game-changer for sites where space, cost, and surface integrity matter,” the company states.

No other details about the new reachstacker are available at this stage.
