This month congratulations go to Toyota, which celebrated 10 years of operation in Mexico last month by throwing a huge party.
The event served several purposes, aside from the birthday celebrations: celebrating the doubling of Toyota's present facilities from 15,000 square feet (1393 square metres) to 30,000 square feet (2787 square metres); presenting a new director and manager; and changing its name from Toyota Tsusho Corporation de Mexico SA de CV to Montacargas Toyota de Mexico SA de CV.
With more than 100 guests and high-level USA and Japanese executives in attendance, the party was a milestone for the Mexican lift truck market.
On another note, there seems to be an international theft racket for forklifts, with more and more being stolen around the world each day.
Last month 10 Hyster forklifts, a shipment from Ireland, were stolen as they were being delivered from the Port of Veracruz to Hyster dealer Maquinaria Ligera Equinter.
