CP Rail's C Series reachstacker

Canadian-headquartered mobile equipment vendor Strongco has landed the first two Konecranes C Series reachstackers in the country.

The reachstackers are the latest addition to the range launched two years ago at CeMAT in Hannover.

Strongco product manager Glenn Hughes tells Forkliftaction News that the first C Series reachstacker in Canada has been delivered to CP Rail in Montreal. It is a model SMV4535TC5 and is CP Rail's second Konecranes reachstacker.

The new unit, he says, will be used to load and unload containers from trains and chassis in their intermodal yard.

"(The second unit) will be put in stock at our Burlington Branch," he says.
In another first, Strongco has delivered its first C Series forklift to Rio Tinto Alcan for its aluminium smelter plants in Northern Quebec.

"It is a model SMV32-1200C with a capacity of 32 T (and Rio's) first Konecranes forklift in Canada," Hughes adds.

This unit replaced an old Omega forklift that had been at Alcan for many years, "much to the chagrin of the locals".

The new C Series has a completely new driver's cab with class-leading spaciousness, superior visibility and the industry's first 7 in. touch-screen colour EMC display that provides full-truck monitoring with eco-drive, fuel management, driver log-in and an electronic weight scale.

The C Series also boasts increased lifting performance, improved engine performance, an enhanced Truconnect Remote Monitoring System and a new HVAC system that offers a 50% improvement in overall capacity.

Strongco Corporation, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, is a major multiline mobile equipment dealer with operations across Canada and in the United States.

The company has approximately 720 employees at 27 branches in Canada and five in the United States.

Besides Konecranes, Strongco represents Manitowoc Crane, Terex Fuchs and other equipment makes.
