Jungheinrich to show off Li-ion solutions
Hamburg, Germany

Jungheinrich will showcase its latest innovations and product refinements in lithium-ion technology to an international trade audience at CeMAT in Hannover, Germany next week.
This includes a facelift of the world's first mass-produced lithium-ion industrial truck and a new lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 110 Ah for pedestrian-controlled forklifts and platform trucks.
The innovations represent "a continuation of the Jungheinrich success story in lithium-ion technology, originally launched at CeMAT 2008", says spokesperson Dr Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach.
Jungheinrich is showcasing a refined version of its EJE 112i battery-powered pedestrian-controlled platform truck. The company unveiled its EJE 112i to a worldwide audience for the first time at CeMAT 2011.
The Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist claims it is the first company to implement and continually refine lithium-ion technology in the context of mass-produced industrial trucks.

EnerSys launches industry first
Reading, PA, United States

EnerSys has launched what it says is the materials handling industry's first online calculator that enables customers to compare the monthly costs of liquid propane fuel compared to electricity, using leased forklifts, batteries and chargers.
The calculator informs users on the cost of converting forklift fleets to electric power.
"We're busting the myth that electric forklifts cost more upfront due to the cost of the battery and charger," says manager Mark Tomaszewski. "The reality is customers can lease batteries and chargers, paying for them as a monthly expense just as they would pay for propane fuel."
According to EnerSys, other online calculators have fixed fields that assume upfront capital costs for the electric forklift, battery and charger while the EnerSys Convert to ElectricSM calculator is the first tool that incorporates the cost of leasing the forklifts, batteries and chargers.

Castelfranco Emilia, Italy

Magni Telescopic Handlers has launched the RTH 5.23 SMART telehandler in Europe.
The RTH 5.23 SMART has been developed "for a market which, despite the economic crisis, needs machinery with good performance and safety at a reasonable price".
Magni says the model is the perfect compromise between price and performance. Despite its price tag, it has all the comforts of the RTH range like pressurised full visibility cab with standard air conditioning, 100% air filtration and interactive touch screen interface.
The RTH 5.23 SMART is manufactured on a smaller chassis than the standard RTH 5.23, with pivoting outriggers.
