A US Army command has ordered 116 All Terrain Lifter Army System (ATLAS II) telescopic forklifts from the JLG unit of Oshkosh Corp.

JLG says the order has a value of about USD20.6 million. Manufacturing is slated to occur in McConnellsburg.

The ATLAS II is the newest in the JLG line of military telehandlers and incorporates performance enhancements reducing engine emissions and adding several multifunction attachments. The model will supplement the 2,500 original ATLAS units that the army utilises in operations around the globe.

"We are very proud of JLG's military telehandler programs and our continued commitment and ability to serve the US Army," says Denny Buterbaugh, JLG vice president of government products and programs. "The ATLAS II can reach over obstacles to place loads weighing up to 10,000 lbs. (4,536 kg) into trucks or shipping containers. These vehicles, which provide exceptional rough terrain capability and versatility, will further improve the ability of our soldiers to quickly and reliably carry out their logistical missions."

Loads can be lifted as high as 17 ft. (5.1 m). The ATLAS II has four-wheel drive capability, high ground clearance, frame leveling, and sufficient horsepower to go through uneven, rugged terrain, including snow, mud, sand and water.

The JLG government and military group develops sales and service programs to support government and national defence customers.

JLG, part of the Oshkosh Corp access equipment business segment, manufactures aerial work platforms, boom lifts, telehandlers and stock pickers.

These releases in Forkliftaction are a nice experience for SNDC... We got seven inquiries coming from Canada, USA, Mexico, Israel and Australia (five from retailers, two from machines manufacturers) and we are still in contact with them. I can state that's a success story!
