Seoul, South KoreaDoosan Corp chairman Park Yong-maan has been appointed as chairman of Doosan Group at a shareholders' meeting.
Park, 57, is the fourth son of the first group chairman, Park Too-pyung. He replaces his brother, Park Yong-hyun, the current group chief. He will preside over group strategy and assume his brother's responsibilities.
Park Yong-hyun has resigned from his post to be a board member of Yonkang Foundation, the group's charity arm that funds scholarships and academic and cultural events.
Founded by Yong-maan's grandfather in 1896, Doosan Group started as a single store in Seoul but moved rapidly into beer and later beverage industries. It now has diversified business interests.
