Hannover. At this year's CeMAT in Hannover manufacturers of forklift trucks and other industrial trucks will be presenting many highly innovative new product developments. When it comes to the management of their industrial trucks, logistics experts are particularly interested in safety aspects, cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency and increased productivity.

Jungheinrich unveils wide-aisle navigation system for forklifts
With two pavilions (P33/34 plus open-air site) Jungheinrich is the biggest exhibitor at CeMAT, and this year the company will be unveiling a world first: a wide-aisle navigation system for forklift trucks. "Since the highly successful market launch of our narrow-aisle warehouse navigation system two years ago, up to 25 percent higher throughput rates are being achieved," reports Jungheinrich's press officer, Jan Kaulfuhs-Berger. "Now we plan to extend this capability so that trucks can navigate all the way to the pallet bay by the shortest route, saving both time and energy. While narrow-aisle navigation relies on RFID technology and transponders set in the floor, the wide-aisle navigation module functions differently - typically using an overhead (ceiling-mounted) optical tracking system."

This is because the trucks in wide aisles are not guided in the same way as in narrow aisles, but are freely manoeuvrable instead. The navigation module processes the tracking data and adjusts the routing of the truck accordingly. The aim is to have the forklift reach its destination via the shortest and quickest route.

Energy-efficient industrial trucks are the focus of the Still display
The presentation by Still in Pavilion 35 and on the open-air site at CeMAT highlights new solutions for the on-site movement of goods, both indoors and outdoors. Forming the centrepiece of the display are the new compact RX 50 series of electric three-wheel forklift trucks and the RX 70 hybrid - the world's first diesel hybrid forklift, which is now in production. In addition, the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist will be presenting intelligent materials flow management systems and racking systems, tugger trains and the automation of industrial trucks.

"We expect CeMAT to remain a key marketplace for the intralogistics industry, where people come to gather information and see the latest products - to the benefit of operators, manufacturers and service providers alike", says Still's marketing director, Christian Baerwolff. "The boost to sales from this show is likely to reinforce the economic recovery and put the industry in a stronger position."

Toyota Material Handling highlights the potential for cost savings
In its display at this year's CeMAT Toyota Material Handling (Hall 26, Stand L02 and on the open-air site) takes up the show's tagline "Sustainability in Intralogistics" and explores its implications under the three topic headings "Responsible Innovation", "Safety" and "Empowering your Business". Visitors will learn all kinds of interesting things about the enormous potential for cost savings that the company's truck fleet, services and solutions can deliver.

Alongside well-established solutions such as "Toyota I_Site" the focus is on product innovations that are making their first public appearance at CeMAT. "CeMAT is the biggest international trade fair for intralogistics and that makes it the most important show of the year for Toyota Material Handling", notes Julia Isert, head of Marketing and Product Management. "We are delighted to have this platform to present our product innovations and visions for the future to a large professional audience."

Linde launches new generation of electric forklift trucks
The main attraction at the stand of Linde Material Handling (Pavilion P32 and open-air site, Stand L01) is likely to be the new generation of electric forklift trucks in the 2 to 5 tonne load category. There will be 19 different standard model designs to choose from, so that customers only pay for what they actually need. What's more, a further twelve technical innovations will be unveiled that ensure extremely economical energy consumption, high productivity and increased driver safety and comfort in the new electric fork lift trucks.

Linde MH will be bringing an impressive cross-section of its current product range to Hannover in the shape of around 60 trucks. "This will enable visitors to get a comprehensive picture of our company's capabilities", says Dr. Ralf Dingeldein, head of the New Trucks business unit and the person responsible for the Linde trade fair stand at CeMAT. "Visitors will enter the pavilion on a red carpet, walking past new trucks and displays highlighting innovative concepts." Inside the pavilion a series of "information islands" will explain how Linde products have been designed to be even more energy-efficient, safe and economical, how operators can save time and money by planning and optimizing the material flow, and what opportunities exist for (partially) automated solutions.

Clark Europe welcomes international attention
Clark Europe is another truck manufacturer with displays at this year's CeMAT (Hall 25, Stands G20 and B198, plus open-air site, Stands F09 and E01) which focus on the electric revolution. "We are celebrating the world premiere of the new GEX 40-50 at CeMAT", announces Sales and Marketing Director Rolf Eiten. "Available with a choice of pneumatic or super elastic tyres, the 80-volt four-wheel truck with load capacities of 4, 4.5 and 5 tonnes is a logical extension of our successful GEX series in the 1.6 to 5 tonne load category."

Also featured prominently will be the new CTX40/70 electric towtractors, with a drawbar pull of four and seven tonnes respectively, and a new diesel and LPG forklift in the Gen2 premium series in the shape of the C40-55 (capacity 4 - 5.5 tonnes). "We are planning to have a strong international presence at our exhibition stand, consisting of sales managers from our various sales regions as well as personnel from our headquarters and sister companies", says Eiten. "Our aim is to project our image and our product range to a broad international audience at CeMAT."

Systems house ICS tracks forklifts with the aid of cameras
Systems house ICS International will be presenting its new forklift guidance system "ICS SLS for SAP" in combination with its camera-based tracking module "ICS Stapler-Track". The combination of the two systems allows industrial trucks to be tracked inside and outside the warehouse to an accuracy of within ten centimetres, while the on-site movement of goods is fully automated. All the data from the SAP modules WM, MM, PP and SD are fully integrated.

Monitoring, control and mobile dialogues are handled by the SAP ERP software. Routing instructions are processed for optimum efficiency, reducing the number of empty runs and routing errors. The capacity utilization and productivity of the truck fleet are significantly improved by the use of IT-aided tracking and automated goods identification, delivering an attractive return on investment.
