ILS is deploying Skypod at its European sitesPoland’s ILS Logistics has signed an agreement to deploy the Skypod warehouse robotics system of French-headquartered Exotec to its 12 sites across Central and Eastern Europe.
ILS will integrate the Skypod automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) into its warehouse operations in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine and Czech Republic, after a successful trial at its headquarters in Zakroczym, Poland. The Zakroczym site serves as the company’s distribution network across Poland, the Baltic states and Ukraine.
The Skypod system was incorporated into the Zakroczym warehouse during construction, when ILS agreed to implement it across all of its sites.
The warehouse now hosts 200 autonomous robots and 60,000 storage containers after testing was completed in December 2024.
The Skypod system will be installed at all ILS sites throughout 2026.
The implementation projects are being carried out in collaboration with Exotec’s long-standing partner, Polish integrator A1 Sorter.
Rafal Tomaszewski, IT systems and solutions manager with ILS, says: “Thanks to Exotec’s Skypod technology, we can implement a solution that is tailored to the requirements of our organisation and supports our further growth in the long term”.
“With the integration of Exotec’s Skypod system, we are prepared for the challenges and opportunities in our growth markets, which has been confirmed by both the innovation and efficiency with which the projects are being run,” Tomaszewski continues.
Krzysztof Skiba, chief sales officer at A1 Sorter, adds: “Our project with ILS shows how significantly automation solutions such as Exotec’s Skypod system can transform logistics in the long term”.
