Doosan Bobcat opens battery research centreDoosan Bobcat has launched its eForce Lab, a dedicated battery pack research and development (R&D) centre focused on advancing next-gen electrification technologies, marking what it describes as a significant step toward the development of standardised, modular battery packs.
The new centre will serve as a hub for developing and testing of core battery pack technologies designed to meet the demands of electrified compact equipment.
Doosan Bobcat established its battery pack business in 2023, and the following year deployed its in-house developed lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery packs on Bobcat forklifts.
The company states the first official project at the eForce Lab is the development of the Bobcat Standard Unit Pack (BSUP), a modular, next-generation battery pack solution for materials handling and construction equipment.
This solution will debut in forklifts and later extend to compact loaders, excavators and other Doosan Bobcat products.
Scott Park, CEO and vice chairman of Doosan Bobcat says the development of eForce Lab is a response to what he says is the “inevitable future” of electrification.
