Maersk opens warehouse in Croatia

Integrated logistics provider Maersk has opened a warehouse in Croatia, welcoming British retailer Marks and Spencer as its first customer.
This 12,000 sqm facility is less than 20 km from the port of Rijeka in northern Croatia.
Maersk East Adriatic and Central Europe country manager Ivic Vodopija says: “We are very proud to launch our first own warehouse and enhance our logistics offering on the Croatian market.”
Maersk now has 473 warehouses around the world.
Research program calls for applications

Raymond Corporation’s University Research Program is calling for submissions for its next round of funding for academic research into materials handling.
Grants of up to USD500,000 are available to North American students and academics interested in applying their engineering and technical knowledge to discover innovative solutions for the materials handling industry.
The theme for the 2023-24 research proposals is “research to enable the future of materials handling”.
Raymond Corporation president and chief executive Michael Field says: “Raymond’s commitment to research and education and our investment in the university research program allow us to support the next generation of material handling innovators who will move our future forward.”
Proposals that previously received funding covered topics such as automation, virtual reality, augmented reality, energy infrastructure, Internet of Things and Industry 4.0.
