Maersk's new French warehouseInternational logistics provider Maersk has opened its first warehouse in France with a 75,000sqm facility officially opened in GLP Park Denain.
This is the 40th warehouse Maersk has in Europe and joins the more than 500 warehouse and distribution centre the Danish logistics company operates globally.
Hundreds of new positions have been created at the site with forklift operators, handlers and preparers now needed to fill them.
Maersk states that Haut-de-France is recognised as one of the leading logistics centres in Europe thanks to the region's strategic location at the crossroads of major European trade routes including Paris, Brussels and London.
“The establishment of Maersk in Denain represents a major opportunity for the Hauts-de-France region, and for the Porte du Hainaut in particular,” Denain Mayor Anne-Lise Dufour-Tonini states.
“Maersk's arrival in Denain constitutes a significant opportunity to decontaminate and repurpose a major industrial wasteland, while also revitalising the local economy and creating jobs, addressing challenges related to work quality, and adapting to technological advancements in the logistics sector.”
