in my opinion aa fork lift trainer , two rearview are necessary - one in every side or one central position, only for general information to the driver abouth the circulation around, people and trucks, when you go forward. When you drive in reverse you must turning your body and head in order to be sure nobody in in your way. You can use a cheap platform round 30-45º for your seat , is sold in USA.

Evidentally, one of our plants had a fatality, involving one of our roll clamp trucks and an "uncertified to drive" employee. So, now our company is on probation w/ OSHA! I realize the seriousness of this issue, but it seems to me, that a mirror that will show me things I can't see can only be an added safety feature but I'm a little confused as to how anyone could think that driving without them could ever be anything, but less than safe????

Jeez, I think I would go out to his car with a tire iron and commence to whaling his rear view mirrors off of his car, because it's safer you know. That's his words. Seriously, I would check the OSHA website and look at what they say. You can even send them an e-mail and ask what they think. I have worked with OSHA inspectors and they are not the nazis they are made out to be.
Did something happen to bring this on? I wish that the companies I have worked for ran so smoothly that all the head office had to worry about were the rearview mirrors on forklifts
