Port Electrification Australia Conference

Australia, Sydney - November 11, 2025
Port Electrification Australia Conference Ports are central to Australia's supply chains and play a pivotal role in the country's decarbonisation journey. As the maritime and logistics sectors work to meet ambitious international and national emissions targets, electrifying port infrastructure and operations has emerged as a promising pathway to reduce emissions while enhancing efficiency.

From shore power and towage to stevedoring, warehousing, and transport, electrification presents a long-term solution to curb harmful emissions across the supply chain. Across Australia, ports are increasingly adopting renewable energy, transitioning equipment to electric power, and decarbonising their energy supply. A standout example is the Port Authority of NSW's shore power project, which is set to become the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, thus paving the way for greener port operations.

Supported by the Australian Government's green finance initiatives, such efforts are laying the groundwork for a cleaner, more resilient port sector. However, the transition is complex and will require strong collaboration across stakeholders to manage its technical, operational, and governance challenges effectively.

Against this background, Global Transmission Report, with support from AUinfra and REGlobal, is excited to launch the inaugural Port Electrification Australia conference, on November 11, 2025, at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney. The conference will discuss how Australian ports can advance electrification to meet sustainability goals, improve operational efficiency, and remain globally competitive.

This inaugural conference builds on the success of our Port Electrification series in the US. Over the past two years, this series convened hundreds of stakeholders to examine how US ports are meeting rising energy demands, transitioning to zero-emission equipment, and responding to rapidly evolving decarbonisation mandates. These insights now serve as a valuable reference as Australia undertakes a similar transformation across its port infrastructure.

The Australian event will:
  • Bring together port authorities, operators, regulators, technology providers, and energy stakeholders for a collaborative discussion.
  • Showcase leading projects and initiatives from Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
  • Explore policy, finance, and regulatory enablers for port electrification.
  • Identify solutions for challenges unique to the Australian ports.
  • Help port users align their decarbonisation efforts with electrification initiatives.
