Discussion:
Code T248

Hello, I have an '07 with VW LPG engine. Code T248. Code sets when traveling at full throttle, and during full lift request when engine reaches full rpm. I have replaced the speed sensor in the bell housing. It looked like it had been scrapping on the flywheel. The flywheel shows some wear on the teeth. I also replaced the potentiometer on the accelerator.
Also if I need to replace the flywheel, can someone give me direction.
Do I pull the motor, or the pump assy. I have a Linde repair manual it says nothing about flywheel replacement
Thank you in advance for any input.

Hey Fred,
Sorry for the late reply. I don't work on Linde a lot.
The code sets because of erratic reading from the speed sensor.
You could have metal stuck on the sensor or the sensor is to far away from the flywheel ring. I think I paid around $70. I would replace the speed sensor and be done with it.
Hope that helps

Hello, I FOUND YOUR ADDRESS email on a discussion board. Can you help me with my problem? I recently bought a forklift linde. It tells me the error code T248. We have changed, the ring gear, the starter and all the other parts in this sector.

Thanks

Fred
I finally got to the repairs. Changed the flywheel ring, rubber pump coupler, and installed a starter from Linde. Works fine. The operator says the engine performance when driving and lifting is better. The problem all started when we started purchasing aftermarket starters. Linde starter is twice the cost, but it could have eliminated changing the flywheel.
Thanks for the input.

Good Morning RobJob,
Thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of. Have the parts ordered. I'll add the disc. I'll update after the repair. Thanks again.

Chances are yes, you will need to change the ring gear. It's easier to remove the pump assembly. once the flywheel is off knock off the gear heat helps. Heat up the new ring gear evenly, pick it up with some pliers and drop it on the flywheel. Make sure it is seated and then start reinstalling everything when cool. While you're in there you may as well change the fabric coupling disk.
