Chances are yes, you will need to change the ring gear. It's easier to remove the pump assembly. once the flywheel is off knock off the gear heat helps. Heat up the new ring gear evenly, pick it up with some pliers and drop it on the flywheel. Make sure it is seated and then start reinstalling everything when cool.
