REC #2, 5, and 1

Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is a good way to check the recs mainly #1,2,&5 in the EV100 systems. Without pulling the recs out of the truck. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the help. I did find the REC 1 was bad with just testing it with my meter. My company said to order anything I need to help with the repairs and troubleshooting. Have a great day and thanks again.

I have found when the 1 rec starts to go bad, the battery voltage get less and less with the truck at rest. 30% of battery voltage is about the threshold that the truck will not run at. 50% or more across the 1 SCR is desirable. Of course, other components in the panel can cause this less than 30%. For the 2 and 5, if I suspect them, I replace them both. Too much labor to do just one, and they are not that expensive. Have not had much luck with the Handyman. They can test bad with the Handyman, and be good. They can test good with the Handyman, and be bad. I just gate them on with a headlight, some jumper wires, and a 12 volt battery. The problem with any bench test is you don't run near the amps through an SCR on the bench as you do when the truck is operating

Yes a Handy man is best to use to test SCR Components, not unless you have access or can purchase a Model 275 EV1/EV100 Analyzer, with this you just unhook the system control card and use the Analyzer test card for the system your working on you can test ALL components and even the contactors with this analyzer,if you do a Ebay search for forklift analyzer you will see that they go for about $1400 new but found mine ALOT cheaper on ebay a while back. This analyzer is/was made by flight systems here in PA, i havent seen another used one go thru ebay since i purchased mine.

you can use a test light, using the battery power of the truck and gate them to see if they pass the gate test....
you will need to disconnect all the connections to the scr to do this effectivly, but if your going that far you might as well remove the component and isolate it away from the control panel.

however...
the best way to test them is to use a 'handyman' component tester
the handyman can gate and also leak test the scr's
