Automation specialists Swisslog has named Jan Zuurbier as its new CEO, who recently took over the role from Jens Schmale.

Zuurbier has more than 30 years’ experience in international leadership across the robotics, healthcare, telecommunications, and ICT sectors. 

Since joining Swisslog parent company Kuka Group in 2019, Zuurbier has held senior leadership roles with Swisslog Healthcare and Kuka Robotics.

Zuurbier adds he is excited to take the role during what he describes as a pivotal time in the industry’s history.

Derek Martin

UKMHA - United Kingdom

The UK Material Handling Association (UKMHA) has appointed owner of Champion Forklifts, Derek Martin, to its Board.

Martin has worked in the forklift sector for more than four decades and is this year celebrating 30 years since he founded Champion Forklifts.

Martin has used his appointment to call for industry players to become members of the UKMHA.

“The benefits of a UKMHA membership are immeasurable,” Martin says. “It’s your support system, your time-saver, and in many cases, your money-saver too. 

“I’ve joined the board to make sure smaller businesses get the recognition and help they deserve. Forklift dealers can’t afford to work in isolation; they have to have access to good, practical advice.”
