Updated U.S. Forklift Fatalities

The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) most current statistical information* (2009) shows a continued decline in U.S. forklift fatalities:

Fatality by Source - Forklift:

2005 - 94
2006 - 81
2007 - 78
2008 - 67
2009 - 57 (preliminary data)

*BLS statistical data is usually two years behind the current year because of the time interval needed for data collection and data analysis.

Unfortunately it probably reflects the decline in the economy
more than a responsible attude to forklift operation.

we have a similar situation even for road accidents, but it really only shows less activity.
