Discussion:
Error codes 5A and 59

Does anyone have any luck with resolving this issue?
Not intermittent, code 5A appears when switched on, after self-test and horn beep code 59 appears. Troubleshooting steps passed, suggests replacing both TPA and LPA(unlikely solution) Wires are intact.
5X troubleshooting steps can't be completed because the vehicle is inop.

Thank you for all your time and efforts!
You were right! I took the AMP connections apart and one of the pins was slightly damaged! I just had to crimp it with a pair of needlenose pliers and presto!
Back in business!
Thanks again!!

Well that makes sense,I am still waiting to get an updated flashware so I can get a better idea,i only know PAT are all showing 0.00,once I update the flashware i should have a better idea.

They may have voltage but if a component is not talking it shuts the system down. I use the VERSIONS to see who the truck can see. If you have your inputs but no output that is usually a sign of a failed component. Like I said before I would have a Raymond dealer hook the computer up to it before throwing in part at it.

At this point i am stumped because it appears that voltage is being supplied from the tm to both amps but they dont power the contactors.

are these resistors located inside the amps?

CanBus system with just 2 120 ohm terminating resistors should read 60 ohms between Can Hi and Can low. Can voltage varies depending if at idle or talking.

I took the battery out and cleaned the battery box, there was electrolyte build up all over the bottom and it ate through the paint and some of the metal.I got a better look at the static straps and both are rusted and neither is touching the ground,I placed another grounding wire on top of one but no change.
I will try the horn and strobe next time.
Not sure I follow you on the CAN hi Can Lo,could you please clarify?
I got 2.5 volts when I checked the CAN voltage, not sure about the high or low value.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the tips!

You could add another drag cable to it. Or ohm them out. The stud should have a resistor in it. But I really doubt that is your problem. You just want to make sure they are touching the ground. You could try unplugging the horn and strobe also to see if they are back feeding. Whats your resistance between Can hi and Can low?

The static straps are rusty,i cant lift the raymond to fully access them, is there way to attach something to them that would help to check if it is the st

CaBus low voltage should be 2.2 -2.5 volts. CanBus high voltage should be 2.7 -2.5. Another thing to check is static straps. I don't think it would be the display because it's talking. If your ID1 pin in the TPA plug isn't seated properly it can confuse the system not letting it know which node it is. I would recommend having the Raymond dealer hook up to it. You will need them to program what ever component you end up replacing.

I checked the BUS voltage and have 49 volts from the battery to JPTA 1-1 and Jpla1-1
Have 2.5 volts at pin 23 same at the splice.
I have to renew my Flashware so I can take a look into the system and see if there is anything else going on but it looks like both the amps are receiving voltage but something is preventing them from actuating the contactors,it shows 5a when turned on but does pass the self test but then goes to error code 59. Do you think the display module could be an issue as well?

Thanks

I would check my Bus voltage with reference to DGND at the TPA
Verify K3 relay is good on the relay card.
Verify no pins on the TPA plug have been pushed out.
Connect to truck via flashware. (Try to find out why you cant see the TPA)

It looks to me like you have a problem with your Traction Power Amp not communicating. Does the LED flash?

I pulled up versions and the PAT,PATB &PATVCL are all showing 0.00.
everything else has numbers.
The battery was also dirty and losing voltage across the top but I cleaned it up, still getting code 5A and 59 though.
I am leaning towards the TM, since it supplies the LPA and TPA.
Haven't gotten a chance to check the voltage going into the Amplifiers from the TM yet.
Any other ideas?

Thanks

I haven't tried that yet.
I pulled the battery out to see if it was grounded or dirty, but i will run the versions check next.
The status lights on the tpa and lpa are both flashing red which leads me to suspect that maybe the TM is not supplying power even though the wiring is ok.
Thanks for the tip, i will let you know if I make any progress.
