Discussion:
Clicking poping noise with load on engine

Good day everyone,

I have a head scratcher here. I have 2 Toyota 5FGC25 in our fleet and they both are making a clicking/popping noise when a load is put on the engine. Now, the head scratcher part is its not just when your using the hydraulic system (lift, tilt, steering) it is also when you apply the brakes. With no load there is no noise, it just purrs like a kitten. At first I though it was the hydraulic pump, but after I realized that the breaks caused this noise too, I was lost.

I spoke to our machine maintenance department to see if any of them heard of this problem before and they were all in the same boat.

To my knowledge the brakes are on there own system and the only connection to the engine is the vacuum for the power brakes. There is no connection to the hydraulic system on the lifts.

If I can figure it out I will upload a video of the noise and what it is doing, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything still functions normally with or without load, and the fuel level, with a new LPG tank or one that is low it still makes the noise.
