Discussion:
Mazda FE crankshaft timing pulley tool

I have a late 80's yale that has a mazda FE79 motor. I read that there is a special tool to remove the the crankshaft pulley for the timing belt. the seal behind it is leaking. I have the parts diagram and it shows a tapered locking sleeve that it used to hold the pulley on. On the open end of that sleeve there are a few threads that this special tool threads into to then be pulled out. I need to purchase or borrow this tool, but cannot find one. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also, I have puller sets. this is not a job for any typical puller.

Its a yale parts book, but it includes FE engine parts diagrams as well. its a really odd design. It seems that the tool is roughly an inch wide with fine threads that screws in relieving the compression of the tapered sleeve. This is my first post to these forums. is there a way I can send you a picture on here or to an email?

Is your parts diagram for a forklift engine. I've never seen a locking sleeve that holds the pulley on. Maybe on a older one, but I've done a lot of seals and belts on these motors and the pulleys and gears just slide off.
