Discussion:
Fire extinguisher recomendation

Hi!
What would be the best recommendation for fire extinguishers for a LPG forklift and a electric one?

I've read that the ABC Dry chemical, would be better for the LPG forklift but this would cause a bigger damage on the electronic components of the electric forklift.

thank you for your help.

With more lithium ion batteries coming into the forklift industry, conventional suppression techniques may put the user at greater risk. CO2 is ineffective and puts the user at risk, Water extinguishers, especially with proper additives, can be most effective on non energized applications. ABC dry powder provides a degree of suppression. Best practice may be to rely on first responders. Watch this example of no training and dangerous response. LithSafe offers assistance:

ABC are commonly used across the board on gas/diesel/lpg lifts and even electric ones.

but if you are worried about the powder on the electric truck you can use a CO2 type which does not leave any residue and is recommended on electrical type fires.
