Discussion:
Runs lumpy

Cat GP25, 5AM01193, starts and runs fine when cold, after short time engine starts to miss and then dies. Will start right back up and run for a shorter period then die again, will do this several times with the run time getting shorter each time until it won't start and will sometimes take out ignition module. If you take alternator out of system runs fine and doesn't die, had alternator checked and rebuilt by reputable rebuilder but still same problem, any ideas?

the only things that could take out an ignition module would be over voltage or a shorted circuit.
make sure that alternator is putting out correctly, generally 13.2 to 14.8v at high governed rpms.
get a good look at the distributor and the wiring, the rubber insulator where the harness comes out of it.
Oh, (just in case) don't use any TVH ignition parts, use OEM please, they work a lot better ;o)

Fact of the week
The two internal cavities in our nose called nostrils function as separate organs. Each nostril has its own set of turbinates and olfactory receptors. The two independent organs work together through a mechanism called the nasal cycle, where one nostril is dominant for air intake while the other rests and is better at detecting scents.
