Discussion:
Lithium Ion Battery Forklift

Hi All Forumers here

I would like to ask a question.
I have one brand new lithium ion battery forklift. but it will not be used for one year onwards due to some reason. Is it necessary to charge the battery every month? or it can be interval three months once to charge? and will it damage the battery lifetime if stored too long without using.

Thank you. Looking forward for guidance here.

Ideally, you should charge it every month - these batteries like to stay somewhat active. Charging every three months is doable if you must, but it might take a bit longer to fully charge when you're ready to use it again.

Keep in mind, super long storage without any use can shorten the battery's lifespan overall. It's best to charge it to roughly 50% or 60% before storage and keep it in a cool, dry spot. Feel free to take a look at our article on battery optimization guide for additional maintenance tips, totalwarehouse.com/blogs/forklift-battery-maintenance/

Hi! We import majority of Lithium-ion Forklifts, and once the equipment is dispatched from the factory, it is idle for about 2-3 months (sea transportation and custom clearance). We have seen the battery percentage fall down to about 97% only. I would recommend putting the equipment in charge once every 3 months.
