BT Prime-mover RRE160:
Lifting fault several errors

Hi, i am working on an RRE140 year 2009 the lift will not go past the first stage, it is fine but as soon as it should go into the second stage it just comes to a sudden stop, i have been getting various errors of 4:181,4:183 and 4:185 i have changed one of the sensor bearings and also one of the the sensors but still hasn't worked, i am also getting to a stage that when i have lifted it to the maximum lift (that i can) if i operate the lift lever again, the hydraulic motor still runs on but once i release the lever the weight on the dash rises even though there is no weight on the forks.

I have got the information how to do a calibration but have know idea how to get into the truck settings, if someone can help on these issues that would be great.

If you can get hold of a BT CAN service key it would be a big help for you in working on RRE's & any newer BT indoor warehouse equipment.

You need to a BT CAN service key to unlock the hidden calibration & service functions on this truck.

NOTE: A BT CAN service key & RRE can be a dangerous combination!

If you can find someone with a BT CAN service key you can then get in to the diagnostic mode which can show all the input & output signals on the truck which in turn will show which sensor or height counter channel isnt working correctly.

Thanks for the reply, no I haven't got a service key, the sensor kept cutting out on the sensor bar about 2/3 off the way up the bar, so i replaced the sensor thinking it was that but it still has a fault although error 4.185 hasn't come up since i replaced this sensor so i was thinking this is why i need to calibrate the lift on the truck. Will i need to service key to calibrate the truck? Or can i carry this out on the dashboard buttons?

Check the sensor bar at the bottom of the mast for impact damage - if the sensor bar is to far away from the sensor on the mast carriage the truck wont be able to tell where carriage is.

System works like this:
Lift the forks from the floor, sensor gets to the end of the bar & it then knows where it is & the calibrated height value.
At this point the height counter on the carriage takes over.

Do you have a BT CAN service key?

If you do you can bring up the diagnostic screens & pin point exactly which of the sensors or height counter pulse channels is missing & causing the problem.
