Liebherr deliver STS crane to Tampa Bay and GermanyKillarney-headquartered Liebherr Container Cranes recently announced the successful delivery of three ship-to-shore (STS) dual trolley cranes for HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder in Hamburg, Germany.
The cranes were transported partially erect, on a heavy-load carrier which allowed the booms to stay lowered for safe bridge clearance and to be raised to full height on arrival.
Each of the STS cranes is fully automated and cabinless and is operated remotely from a central operation centre.
It offers a 61m outreach, 53m lift height, 25.5m back reach and a 75T safe working load under twin lift.
Liehberr says the dual trolley system keeps ship and landside operations moving at the same time, cutting delays and boosting efficiency.
Florida’s Port Tampa Bay has also accepted delivery recently of two new STS cranes from Liebherr.
“These cranes not only boost our currently operational capacity, they serve as integral pieces of a long-term, coordinated effort to future-proof Port Tampa Bay,” the port states in a LinkedIn post.
“The addition of these cranes ensures we are ready to safely and efficiently serve the larger vessels that deeper water access will attract.
“These investments strengthen our ability to handle growing cargo volumes, enhance berth productivity, and provide the speed and reliability our customers expect from a world-class port.
“They also move us closer to our Vision 2030 goal of expanding our container terminal footprint, increasing throughput capacity, and supporting the economic growth of Tampa Bay and the entire I-4 corridor.”
