Yale GLC080LCNSBE085BCS:
Hard Start, Long Cranking

I have a Yale GLC080LCNSBE085BCS, Serial Number N476459 with a Chrysler 225 slant 6. I have done a tune up including new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition module, resistor, new regulator vaporizer. On cold starts the forklift doesn't start but cranks for long periods of time but then finally starts. At times I have to put a jump pack on, so it starts. When it finally starts up it runs and will start every time after the initial startup. Then the next day I go through the same issues.

Yesterday found the positive cable was loose and fixed that, then it wouldn't start would just click so i hit the starter solenoid and it started right up.

Looking for some help and possible wiring diagrams and any other diagrams i can possible get. Thanks

Sorry been busy and have been just jumping it to get it started. We had YES come in a few days ago and was told it could possibly be a voltage drain and that the starter and alternator was pulling from battery while not being operated. So, my only thought would be bad diodes in the alternator causing a parasitic draw. I don't have my amp meter here but I will grab it for tomorrow.

The Vacuum switch is mounted directly on the intake manifold so I'm thinking it's getting enough vacuum. But just for the **** of it I took it off and cleaned out the fittings to make sure there wasn't any debris. I also tested continuity between the two connections using a vacuum to pull switch to activate.

I can check for oil in the regulator and see if that is the issue.

If it runs fine after it warms up you may have propane oil built up in the regulator, after it warms up shut off the propane and run until it stops, then find the plug in the bottom of the regulator and drain the oil out of it.

Eknoz,

One more thing to check. The LP lock-off at the regulator is controlled by the vacuum switch that provides power. Make sure the vacuum is enough to pull the switch on as soon as the engine cranks. Check the line for holes or loose fit. With an old engine, vacuum can get low. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
Eknoz,

From start on the key switch to the controller should be Black wire w/ white stripe. From controller to start relay it is a white wire w/ black stripe. Another connection is battery voltage from a 20-amp fuse and the other is ground. The anti-start controller is only for the start relay. If the starter is cranking the engine, it should be good. Try spraying a little brake clean in the air filter and see if the engine hits as soon as you crank. If so, then you have a fuel issue. If not suspect a failing connection. Good Luck.

Yes, I checked voltages the other day and there isn't a voltage drop. the anti-restart is located on the firewall but I am not sure how to test it.

Eknoz,

Old truck, schematic maybe hard to find. I would check all your cable connections at the battery, engine and starter. Take a voltage reading at the negative of the battery to the cable connection at the starter. Then switch from the negative at the engine to the battery positive. See if you have a voltage drop. Also, there is an anti restart controller in the system. If I can find a schematic that can be read will send. Check all connections at the starter also. Good Luck.
