Hows that CY-50 going, has it still got original grey motor & what year is it.
I have a CYF-50 (Friction clutch) converted to CY-50 (Torque converter) , I got the original build card from clark USA, it was built in 1964 with Holden greymotor. It now has a 186 red motor. Mine also has short mast, I can only just load onto top of container.
I had lots of problem with slip when hot. Ended up being the floor pan modification ! The brake pedal was not returning enough & when every thing was hot the master cylinder pushrod had negative clearance & was activating the inching valve.
So bashed th floorpan & adjusted the pushrod & now all is sweet.

Geoff, the canister in question could be your motor oil filter(napa 1010). if it does not have a spin own filter. Follow the lines off the cannister and see if they go toward the engine block. Also, if they lead back to the hyd. tank then you know thats it. Mark
Great... all is proceeding..... The beast is working again,...with a new leash of life, Forward & Reverse, Mast goes up & down...
Well until the Fuel Pump failed,:( fixed that :) & went for a quick spin, Then radiator boiled... :(
Have a new thermostat ready for install this weekend. :)
Now I have been told elsewhere that hydraulic fluid has a tendency to absorb water, & I was advised to change the Hydraulic filter, else the hydraulic pump may fail sooner than later...
I have had a bit of a snoop around & I have found a large blue metal canister , aprox 8" round & 6 - 8" high with a nut on top, I havn't investigated inside this yet, but I assume this is possibly the Hydraulic filter ??? yes/no ??
Any guesses of the part number for the filter ??

Geoff, usually theres a large black or could be chrome cap on the hydraulic tank either on the left or right side of the frame of the truck. Sometimes theres a dipstick under the cap. if theres not a dip stick on cap there should be one ajacent to it. Make sure you do not put oil in the gas tank. Mark

Geoff, could not tell you how much it holds. I would just fill it to line on dipstick and rock on. As far as the hydraulic oil, be sure to check with forks down and tilted all the way back otherwise you can easily over fill tank and wind up with a tremendous mess in your floor. Lift height depends upon upright size as there are different sizes in which will go on lift

I checked the dipstick on the front dip & nothing showed, I've added 4 Litre's of TX oil & I now have movement. Just wondering how much oil the front diff holds.
Also.. how do I check the hydraulic fluid & what is the max fork height, as I have read comments that the CY50 lifts to 4Metres, but this one definately dosn't go that far.
It appears the chain is at full runout & the Ram is at or close to full extension ( unless there is another inner ram that is not extending due to low hydraulic oil.
also, check to see if theres a suction filter in the trans somewhere. Usually when a truck sits for a long period of time the suction filter will clog

I would say that it could be one of four problems:
1. Low transmission fluid level
2. Problem with the inching valve.
3. Bad transmission pump
4. Needs transmission rebuild.
The first two thing are simple to check. On the last two you would need to do a transmission pressure test to identify the problem.
You could also a broken axle shaft or differential issue but that is more unlikely.
The dipstick is on the dfferential case up in the front of the truck. Tilt forward and look down between the mast and the dash panel. That's where you fill it too. There is no safety switch that shuts off the trans.
