Hi guys,
I was wondering if there was anybody out there who could help me with a braking issue with an Ausa C 250 H x 4 in our workshop? My experience on these machines is very limited, haven't worked on that many, and its hard to get any information on these at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What's happening is: when the machine is driven in either direction and service brake applied to stop, when foot comes off the brake pedal you can hear and feel a loud shock through the machine. Not too bad when soft braking, but still there. Major when hard braking applied. Also now can feel and hear loud shock when direction switch on control handle is put into neutral position, park brake switched to apply park brake and when ignition switched off, loud shock through machine is heard and felt. As I said I haven't had much to do with these forklifts so any help would be great......Thank you.

Hey swoop223,
Yeah I thought it may be internal fault. Can't see anything obvious from the out side. Didn't get to inspect machine much today though.I was out and about doing field service jobs. I will be back on it tomorrow with a bit of luck. Or unlucky lol. Thank you for your reply though mate.
Cheers
Brett.
oh ok Brett
hydro-static drive is a different story
I don't know much about those Ausa's, i just basing my thoughts on general knowledge of basic braking and drive systems.
Being that it is a hydro-static drive all the parts associated with the drive line are probably internal inside the cases?
If you do not see anything loose on the outside like flange bolts or even wheel lugs then it very well could be something internal that you can't see without disassembling it.
Hi swoop223,
I'll check that out when I get into workshop this morning mate. No brake backing plates on these Ausa's though. Hydrostatic drive. Has wet brake packs in transmission/diff housing.
Thanks mate
Brett.
hello brett,
from the sound of your description it sounds to me like something in the drive line is loose.
try pulling the wheels and checking the brake backing plates, i have see those come loose just enough to cause a shift when the brake is either applied or released.
It could be something else in the drive line also, so you may have to get someone to operate the machine and watch for any component that may be moving that is not supposed to be, when this occurs. Check for loose bolts on fixed components.
Just listen carefully where the sound is coming from and concentrate on that area, if anything is loose you should see it.
