Genie Z30/20:
Articulation jib cylinder seal replacement

I've got a Z30/20N that needs the articulation cylinder seals replaced. I've got the knuckle removed and in a vice. I removed the 2 set screws and now attempting to get the dowels out so I can unscrew the cap and replace the seals. Any advice on removing the dowels and cap?

Ok thanks for the insight. I'm taking it to a machine/hydraulic shop and not spending more time with it. Thanks

not going to be much help on taking that rotator motor apart sir.
like i said, i always send them out.
way to risky to attempt out in the field.
if it's a cylinder? no problem, i do those all the time.
But rotator motors, wheel motors or even the center rotator coupler? Nope, won't do them myself. The cost vs benefit doesn't work if you are a field tech working for a lift company or even as an independent. You'll loose money on this doing it yourself.

i have a couple of questions
1-what is the complete model and serial off of the data plate? I'm assuming it is a Z30/20N RJ (this is the only model i know of that has a rotating jib).
2-when you say articulation jib cylinder are you saying the jib is a rotating jib? or are you talking about the cylinder that raises the jib?
it sounds to me like you are talking about the jib rotator since you mention dowels?
As for working on a rotator motor? I've always sent those out to a hydraulic shop to have them rebuilt/resealed, you'll at least have some sort of workman ship labor and parts warranty if they do it. If you attempt to do it yourself you're on your own.
