TMHUK is showing off its forklift refurbishment process in a YouTube video.

Forklift users can now see how Toyota Material Handling UK (TMHUK) refurbishes its used forklifts at its Leicestershire fleet management centre via a YouTube video.

It took the forklift company two days to film the different stages of the refurbishment process at its Fleet Management Centre in Old Dalby, Leicestershire. The video captures the whole process -from the trucks arriving, to pre-inspections, to work commencing, and to the refurbished trucks leaving the centre.

TMHUK sales and marketing director Tony Wallis says: "The video is a great opportunity to show customers TPS in action throughout the refurbishment process and the dedication spent on making used equipment suitable for its second working life."

All Toyota used equipment are fully renovated and prepared at the dedicated centre, using the same 'Toyota Production System' (TPS) process as new trucks. All Toyota used trucks come from the manufacturer's contract hire fleet, so they have been maintained by Toyota technicians, using OEM parts.

After engineers carry out a quality check of all the truck's major components, it is graded and prepared to one of three levels: Silver, Gold or Platinum.

The TPS was founded in the 1950s to improve product quality and avoid waste during manufacturing. It is based on the two key principles of Lean Production and Jidoka (a Toyota-created word, which sounds like the Japanese word for automation. It means 'making abnormalities visible').

Toyota says TPS improves manufacturing to become "reliable, durable, high quality, have better productivity and a greater return on investment".
