Jungheinrich's used forklift refurbishment centre in Dresden, Germany delivered its 25,000th industrial truck last week. The facility began refurbishing forklifts in 2006.

By 2018, the plant capacity is scheduled to increase from its current level of 4,500 trucks to 8,000 units a year.

The milestone forklift was formally handed over to Paul Davis Freight Services Ltd on 16 July. Based in Bristol, United Kingdom, Paul Davies claims to be the leading carrier of consumer goods shipped to Ireland and the British offshore market, including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Isle of Wight.

"Used trucks from Jungheinrich are an ideal match for our delivery depot requirements," says Paul Davies operations director Nigel Dutson. "They perform beautifully, are highly reliable and - particularly important to a company like ours - are extremely robust."

The 25,000th truck supplied by the used equipment centre in Dresden is a six-year-old EFG 320 electric counterbalance forklift. It was part of a shipment of three refurbished EFG 320 trucks delivered to the British firm, with another three expected soon.

The Dresden used equipment centre commenced operation on 1 June 2006. Since then, the plant's production capacity has greatly increased and the available floor area has expanded to 19,000 sqm (204,514 sqft.).

"The construction project launched in March 2014 was intended to connect the existing halls and optimise material flows in a sustainable manner," explains the Dresden centre managing director Ralf Bangert, who adds that the actual production surface would increase from the current 8,500 to 13,500 sq m (91,493 to 145,313 sqft.), "putting us in a position to professionally recondition some 8,000 trucks a year".

It’s the year 2000. You’re in front of a boxy beige desktop waiting for the screeching ramblings of your dial-up to reach its finale.
