RMH Systems has acquired Skarnes Inc., a materials handling company in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth.

Iowa's Business Record reports that Skarnes has been a dominant materials handling house in the Twin Cities and Minnesota markets since 1923.

The acquisition strengthens the market presence of RMH Systems as a materials handling equipment distributor in the upper Midwest.

Skarnes also has offices in Davenport, Kansas City, Kansas and Omaha.

RMH Systems is a 25-year-old company that has three divisions: materials handling, packaging and industrial scales.

Skarnes will retain its name and Paul Wanous will continue as sales manager of the Skarnes division, while Ryan Howard will assume the role of general manager of the division.

Skarnes was founded in 1923 by Reubin Skarnes and represents more than 50 suppliers.
